Upgrades and downgrades

Here is a short video tutorial on editing invoice items:

Use Rebilly to edit invoice items on an active subscription.


First, upgrade the order:

  • Customer name: Sherry Emery
  • Change plan from the Basic plan to the Pro plan
  • Renewal policy: Retain
  • Effective time: Select today's date
  • Has proration: Select the checkbox.

Then, issue the interim invoice and collect payment:

  • In the order details menu, click Issue interim invoice
  • Once the page refreshes, scroll down past the upcoming invoice, and find the interim invoice that was issued in the timeline.
  • Click on the hyperlink to open the interim invoice.
  • Click Pay invoice.
  • Collect payment using the payment instrument on file.

First, downgrade the order:

  • Customer name: Dale Moore
  • Change plan from the Pro plan to the Basic plan.
  • Renewal policy: Retain
  • Effective time: Select today's date
  • Has proration: Check the box

Then, issue the interim invoice and issue a refund:

  • In the order details menu, click Issue interim invoice.
  • Once the page refreshes, scroll down past the upcoming invoice, and find the interim invoice that was issued in the timeline, take note of the pro-rata credit amount owed to the customer (this should be a negative amount).
  • On the right hand side of the page, find the box labeled Invoices for this order. Open the first paid invoice.
  • Click Refund.
  • Issue a partial refund on the software item for the pro-rata credit owed to the customer. Click Refund

  • Customer name: Jarvis Wooten
  • Downgrade from the Pro plan to the Basic plan
  • Renewal policy: Retain
  • Effective time: At next service period

Change price or quantity

  • Customer name: Bill Paddington
  • Change the price of the Pro plan from $200 to $150.
  • Change the quantity of the Pro plan from 1 to 2.
  • Renewal policy: Retain
  • Effective time: At next service period

  • Customer name: Patti Mazola

  • Change the price of the Basic plan from $50 to $60.

  • Change the quantity of the Basic plan from 1 to 3.

  • Renewal policy: Retain

  • Effective time:

    • Specific date: Choose today's date.
    • Has proration: Select the checkbox.

    Do not issue an interim invoice, the pro-rata adjustment will be collected at the next renewal.
